Jazz Fundamentals

 

This class is ideal for individuals involved in theatre, or those who just want to enhance their training in dance.  Each class will begin with an extensive warm-up including conditioning and core work, followed by progressions and centre work including turns, jumps and combinations.

INTERMEDIATE (grade 5 - 8) - Monday evenings  from 5:00 - 6:00pm            
October 17 - December 5th (8 weeks - $120 + HST)

 

ADVANCED (grade 9 - 12) - Monday evenings from 6:00 - 7:15pm

Broadway Jazz
​

This class is great for students who want to further improve their dance skills and enhance their audition sklills. Learn choreography set to music from popular shows; improve confidence and performance skills and have fun at the same time!

 

INTERMEDIATE (grade 5 - 8) - Monday evenings  from 5:00 - 6:00pm            
January 9, 2022 - March 6, 2022 (6 weeks - $90 + HST)

 

ADVANCED (grade 9 - 12) - Monday evenings from 6:00 - 7:15pm

Depending on studio availability and interest in the class, there will be a second, 6-week session of  the Broadway Jazz Workshop offered in March/April.

 

​Philosophy:  To instill in students a love of dance and theatre, and to provide a non-competitive atmosphere where children can strive to do their best, engage in physical activity and - most importantly - HAVE FUN. 

 

Instructor Biography

Sharon Lindsay has been teaching and choreographing at the Woodbridge School of Dance and Charactors Theatre Troupe for over 10 years, and has been a dance instructor for over 20 years. 

 

As a competitive student, she received training in jazz, tap, ballet, acrobatics, and musical theatre, and has won numerous awards and distinctions.  Sharon is certified by the British Association of Teachers of Dance and is currently the Musical Theatre Department Head at the Woodbridge School of Dance. 

As a choreographer, she has had the privilege of working on the PBS television show "Ricky's Room", "Pinkalicious the Musical", and various projects for Charactors Theatre Troupe and City Youth Players.  Some of her favourites include "A Chorus Line", "Into the Woods", and "Sweet Charity".  Sharon continues her training by attending workshops and master classes all over North America.  She hopes to share her passion for dance and theatre with all her students.
